Federal Reserve Buys U.S. Treasuries

On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, the Fox Business Network printed this on their website:

NEW YORK -- The Federal Reserve Bank of New York bought $7 billion in Treasurys on Tuesday, part of a program aimed at improving conditions in private credit markets and spurring lending. The debt bought included notes maturing between 2016 and 2019. Dealers submitted $26.8 billion in debt to be purchased. The Fed will continue its buybacks with another operation on Thursday, heading towards purchasing $300 billion in Treasury securities over the next six months. Ten-year note yields stayed down by 2 basis points to 2.82%.

Isn’t this just moving debt from one pocket to another?  I am not a financial guy or an economist but having to buy your own treasuries I wouldn’t think is a good idea.  If anybody has any thoughts on this that are smarter than me it would be great it hear them.

Earth Day Tomorrow!

Here is a great quote from Glenn Beck’s free Newsletter that I thought we would all appreciate:

“Earth Day is tomorrow! Celebrate by cutting down a tree with a chainsaw or leaving your lights on while you are gone or anything else that would hack off an environmentalist --- and tune in to Glenn on radio tomorrow to celebrate the most useless day of the year.”

I tend to agree with Glenn.  I’m not big on the once a year days to show how much you care (kind of like Valentine’s Day).  If you really cared about the environment, you would show it in your daily actions not just once a year.

By the way, for all those people who are worried about the ice caps melting and flooding everything, they might be interested in knowing that they aren’t melting, they are actually growing.  Too bad!  Those so called environmentalists are going to have to find something to use to try and increase their control and power over the rest of us.

Budget Cuts by Obama Not Worth Much

When you have a budget of $3.5 trillion, $100 million in budget cuts is like taking one drop of water out of an Olympic size swimming pool because it was too full.

As is stated in an article on Hot Air, “This is an insult to the intelligence of fiscal conservatives.”  We complain that you are spending too much in Washington and that is the best you can do?  Give me a break.  If that was all you, Barak Obama, are willing to do, then you might well have done no budget cuts.  Maybe you should start with stopping all of this TARP nonsense and bailing out businesses that are “too large to fail.”  How about this radical idea: cut all the wasteful spending on Washington on useless departments and programs that don’t work.

Enough of my rant.  Read the articles below if you want to know more about these budget cuts.

The Problem With Big Government

There are so much information that I could write about everyday I have a hard time determining what would be the most important.  I could spend all day writing posts if I had the time.  Today’s post is a story I received from a friend of mine.  I don’t know if it is true or not but it makes a very valid point.

Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

So, if you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America .

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."

Green Jobs…Not What We Need

Barak Obama is pushing green jobs, similar to what they have in Spain.  The problem is, it will have a negative effect on an already reeling economy.  According to study done by a university in Madrid, for every green job created, at least 2.2 non-green job will be lost.  That doesn’t sound like a good return on investment.

Why can’t we just push to grow already existing industries?  Again, just as I mentioned in a previous post, this is not about protecting the environment, this is about control and power.  What are we going to do to make Washington listen us?  Go to The 9/12 Project to see what we can do.

EPA concludes carbon dioxide bad for humans… well duh!

Do we really need a study to determine this?  It is obvious to me that carbon dioxide is bad for us considering we exhale carbon dioxide out of our bodies to get rid of it.  Guess what?  There is something else out there that likes carbon dioxide.  Anybody now what it is?  Any guesses? Has anybody heard of trees, plants, grass, etc?  This lovely creations love carbon dioxide.  Guess what else?  These things, commonly known as plant life, go through something called photosynthesis in which they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.  Humans need oxygen to survive.  Hmmm…

How about instead of regulating CO2 (another name for carbon dioxide) we grow more plant life.  You might be surprised the growth of your plants when they have a lot of CO2.  I am tired of more and more government regulation that limits our freedom and makes everything in our life more expensive.

Additional Drilling in Alaska? “No!” Says Appeals Court

Today an appeals court shot us in the food again when it comes to energy independence.

  • Forget that the caribou are flourishing in the area of Alaska that has the oil pipelines.
  • Forget that were we are drilling is a barren wasteland.
  • Forget that we should be more concerned about American citizens then we are about the environment in Alaska.

This is more about control then it is about protecting the environment.  It just goes to show that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Korea Expels U.S. Nuclear Experts

U.S. monitors of North Korea's nuclear program pulled out of the communist nation Friday after the regime expelled them and vowed to restart its reactor in anger over U.N. criticism of its recent rocket launch.

U.S. Nuclear Experts Leave North Korea

Sounds like they are pulling the same trick that Saddam Hussein did in Iraq.  We still have the same ‘do nothing’ U.N. but we now also have the ‘do nothing’ U.S. government to.  We will through out threats and pass U.N. resolutions but ultimately will do nothing.  We cannot even bankrupt them like with did the USSR doing the cold war because we have no money.  Barak Obama wouldn’t do that anyways.  He is already cutting spending in the Defense Department, the only department he is cutting spending in.

This will have dire consequences.  Soon we will have nuclear weapons in the hands of North Korea and Iran.  Not a good thing.

Collapse of the two-party system

I was listening to Glenn Beck yesterday and he discussed something that I had kind of talked about a while ago in a previous post on another blog.  Glenn Beck took it a bit further and talked about the collapse of the two-party system and not the rise of a third-party.

With all the disenfranchisement in the country against both parties, I could see that collapse happening.  What will happen after that, I don’t know.  I still believe a third-party will emerge out of the ashes of the Republican and Democrat parties.  I was under the impression that it would be for several years but I’m beginning to wonder if it won’t be sooner.

Time will tell and I will keep you posted.

Beginning of end for 2 party system?

China Switching it’s Foreign Reserves

In the Telegraph today, there is a report that China is now starting to switch it’s foreign reserves from U.S. Treasuries and the dollar to copper.  That doesn’t bode well for the U.S.  Washington is continuing to bet on the Chi-Coms to purchase our Treasuries (even though they are worthless) and continue to let us borrow money from them.  It looks like that is going to stop very soon.  Then what will we do in here in the U.S.? Print more money.  I would suggest that we stop spending money but I don’t think Washington knows the meaning of the word ‘STOP’.  Hopefully not, but it seems we are headed for a crash of the U.S. dollar and when that happens the only way to go to is to create a new global currency.  Not a good idea but the Chi-Coms will be set up perfectly if it is a copper backed currency.

What does the future hold for the dollar?  Only time will tell.

WAKE UP CALL: TEXAS GOV. BACK RESOLUTION AFFIRMING SOVEREIGNTY

Gov. Rick Perry joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

Perry continued: "Millions of Texans are tired of Washington, DC trying to come down here to tell us how to run Texas."

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.

It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.
